What is FSSAI?
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is an autonomous body established by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Indian government. The Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006 established it with the primary purpose of promoting food hygiene, safety, and integrity in India.
Thus, The FSSAI acts as a body responsible for ensuring the safety of consumer health through ensuring the good quality of food. The FSSAI achieves this purpose through multiple ways including FSSAI Registration and FSSAI License.
What is an FSSAI License?
FSSAI License is simply a mechanism for the government to ensure companies or FBOs meet all the rules and regulations. FSSAI License helps the government to collect and utilize the data of an FBO. As a result, it prevents food adulteration and the sale of poor-quality food.
In the FSSAI License, an FBO gets a 14-digit number. This 14-digit number is printed on the packaging of every food item and must be displayed on every manufacturing plant or business establishment.
